DJ Keith Benson

About me

From an early age my biggest passion in life has been music. As a child my favourite artist was Michael Jackson and one of my earliest memories, like many other people, was gathered round with all my friends fighting to see who could Moonwalk the best.

My first taste of DJ'ing came when I was 14 at my local youth club and from those first few discos I knew that DJ'ing was something special.

I bought my first set of turntables in August 1999 after spending an entire summer working nine hour shifts in a fast food restaurant. From then on every penny I earned went into new records and at the age of 17 in a small pub in Groomsport I began playing for various parties each weekend.

At the age of 18 I became resident DJ in one of Bangor's most popular bars where I remained for 8 years playing to many hundreds of events and thousands of people.

In 2005 I joined Cool FM presenting various shows including the very popular Saturday Night Mix between 9pm and 1am.

I left Cool FM in January 2007 when unfortunately I could no longer fit my day job around the shows that I was presenting and I focused my new found free time into my private function and club DJ'ing.

To this day I am extremely thankful that every weekend I get to go out and play music that makes people feel good and enjoy themselves, if you ask any true DJ it's really all that matters.

“Since the early days of humankind, dancing was always an expression of feeling good, and making someone feel good is the main intention of DJ’ing. I don’t see the point of playing a record that makes people stand there, look at you and say “Umm, very interesting” – Paul van Dyk
